Running Check‐in in Self mode is a convenient solution to offer your frequent attendees. This allows participants to check themselves into activities. There are only two requirements:
Before you begin with self Check‐in, you need to make a plan to issue barcodes. The first thing you will need to do is determine what type of card you will use. Will your church create custom key tag cards or will you allow attendees to use any barcode number that they currently carry with them?
If you decide to go with the custom barcode option, you will need to contact a vendor and get the cards ordered. Be sure to consult the Hardware Guide (click here to view the guide or click the Help button to access the Customer Support Portal > log in and search the articles using the key word "hardware").
Remember the following when ordering:
Note: Barcodes containing 7 digits CANNOT be used!
When ordering barcodes there are two options you can make:
Let’s take a look at each of these options so you can weigh the pros and cons of each. In option 1, you have at least two cards with the same number printed on each card. This option has the benefit of making the association of barcode numbers to families quick. Since the number is the same, the check‐in volunteer can simply scan the same card for both heads of household. The downside to this option is that when there are adult events at the church such as gender specific events, both adults will appear as options to check into the activity. This may be less than ideal when you have activities like Women’s Bible Studies or Men’s Prayer Breakfasts.
Option 2 allows for each head of household to have their own unique number. The benefit is that the number is individual to that person. When checking into an event such as a Women’s Bible Study or Men’s Prayer Breakfast, only the adult associated with the card will appear (as long as you have selected the Individual Only option when starting Check‐in in Self mode).
